About Floralozone IFF

Floralozone is a synthetic aroma chemical developed and marketed by IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances). It belongs to the family of fresh, ozonic and marine materials that transformed modern perfumery from the 1980s onward, when perfumers began chasing the abstract scent of clean air, water and sea spray rather than literal florals.

What makes Floralozone special is its neutral, transparent character. Unlike many strong aldehydes, it does not impose a heavy signature on a blend — instead it opens up a composition, adding a fresh-air halo and a sense of space. This makes it one of the most reliable "lift" materials in a perfumer's palette, equally at home in a delicate floral or a sporty aquatic.

Bio Shop Pakistan supplies cosmetic-grade Floralozone suitable for fine fragrance, attar and mukhallat blending, functional fragrance, soaps, shampoos and home fragrance applications.

Olfactory Profile

SCENT DESCRIPTION: Floralozone opens with a powerful, clean burst of ozone and fresh air, like standing at the edge of the sea on a breezy morning. Beneath the marine freshness sits a soft floral-jasmine and muguet whisper, with subtle melon and cucumber facets. It feels transparent, airy and slightly metallic-green rather than sweet. The overall impression is of light, space and clean skin.

Applications & Usage Guidelines

Fine Fragrance ★★★★★

A signature lift material for aquatic, marine, fresh floral and clean perfumes. Adds diffusion and a fresh-air top without dominating. A staple in modern masculine and unisex fresh structures.

Attar & Oriental Blending ★★★☆☆

Useful in small traces to add a cool, airy opening to otherwise warm attar and mukhallat blends. Best as a contrast accent rather than a main player. Use sparingly to avoid a synthetic edge.

Functional Fragrance ★★★★★

Excellent performance in soaps, shampoos, deodorants and especially fabric softeners, where it enhances overall freshness. Stable and effective in many base types.

Cosmetics ★★★★☆

Works well in lotions, creams and shower gels to deliver a clean, fresh-skin effect. Good stability in most cosmetic bases.

Home Fragrance ★★★★☆

Diffuses well in reed diffusers and room sprays for an airy, just-cleaned ambience. Moderate performance in candles.

IFRA & Usage Rate

EDP : 0.5 – 5%

EDT : 0.5 – 4%

Body Lotion : 0.2 – 1%

Shampoo/Body Wash: 0.2 – 1%

Candle : 1 – 4%

Reed Diffuser : 1 – 5%

Soap : 0.5 – 3%

Typical average use is around 0.5% of the fragrance compound; it can go up to 10% but is easy to overdose.

IFRA 51st Amendment: Floralozone is generally considered non-restricted in standard categories, but limits and standards can change. ⚠️ Always verify the current status for your specific category at ifrafragrance.org and confirm with the supplier CoA before finalising a formula. IFRA compliance is voluntary in Pakistan but recommended for Gulf export markets.

Blending Guide

Method 1 — Fresh-air lift: Add 0.2 – 1% to almost any floral or fresh blend to open it up and add diffusion. Use restraint.

Method 2 — Marine accord: Combine with Calone for a green-melon sea accord, or with Cascalone for fresh air and mist effects.

Method 3 — Floral building block: Blend with Helional and a styrax note toward lilac, or with Cyclamen Aldehyde and Linalool toward a dewy freesia.

BEST PAIRINGS

Calone → Green-melon marine, sea-salt freshness

Helional → Watery floral, lilac and lily direction

Hydroxycitronellal → Soft muguet and lily-of-the-valley lift

Cyclamen Aldehyde → Dewy, fresh floral character

Linalool → Clean, airy floral transparency

AVOID

Overdosing — at high levels it can turn synthetic, plastic and harsh. Heavy, sweet oriental bases where its cool freshness may clash unless used as a deliberate accent.

Perfumer's Note

For me, Floralozone is one of those quiet workhorses you reach for when a composition feels flat or closed-in. A trace of it lifts the whole formula and gives the impression of fresh air moving through the scent, without ever announcing itself. The danger is always overdose — too much and the beautiful ocean-breeze effect collapses into something plastic.

ADVANCED TIP: Pre-dilute Floralozone to 10% in perfumer's alcohol or DPG and dose from the dilution. This gives you fine control in the 0.2 – 0.5% range, where it adds lift and freshness invisibly. Add it last, after the floral and base are balanced, so you are tuning brightness rather than building on it.
