About Hedione High Cis

Hedione is one of the most influential aroma chemicals in modern perfumery, first made famous in Dior Eau Sauvage in 1966. Chemically it is methyl dihydrojasmonate, and it exists as a mix of cis and trans isomers. The cis isomer carries almost all of the desirable radiant jasmine character.

Hedione High Cis is the grade enriched in that powerful cis isomer. This makes it many times stronger and more diffusive than standard Hedione, delivering a brighter, more floral, more transparent effect at lower or equal dosage. It does not so much smell loud as it makes everything around it bloom.

Bio Shop Pakistan supplies cosmetic-grade Hedione High Cis suitable for fine fragrance, attar and mukhallat blending, cosmetics, and functional fragrance applications.

Olfactory Profile

SCENT DESCRIPTION: Soft, radiant, and watery with a luminous jasmine heart. It opens transparent and airy, carrying a delicate citrus-floral shimmer rather than a heavy indolic jasmine. The effect is more about light and space than a defined note. It gives the impression of fresh petals catching morning air.

Applications & Usage Guidelines

Fine Fragrance ★★★★★
The signature use. It adds radiance, transparency, and a jasmine lift to florals, colognes, and modern fresh accords. Often the single largest ingredient in a formula.

Attar & Oriental Blending ★★★★☆
Brings air and freshness to dense oud, rose, and mukhallat bases. Use it to open up heavy orientals without removing depth.

Functional Fragrance ★★★★☆
Stable and pleasant in shampoos, gels, and lotions. Adds a clean, blooming floral signature to personal care.

Cosmetics ★★★★☆
Low discoloration and good skin tolerance make it well suited to creams, lotions, and fine cosmetic fragrancing.

Home Fragrance ★★★☆☆
Useful in diffusers and sprays for an airy floral effect, though more volatile materials may outlast it in candles.

IFRA & Usage Rate

EDP : 5 to 40%
EDT : 5 to 30%
Body Lotion : 0.5 to 3%
Shampoo/Body Wash: 0.3 to 2%
Candle : 3 to 8%
Reed Diffuser : 3 to 10%
Soap : 0.5 to 3%

IFRA 51st Amendment: Methyl dihydrojasmonate currently has no specific IFRA restriction and is treated as unrestricted in standard use. Always verify the current status at ifrafragrance.org before finalizing a formula.

⚠️ High dosage is normal for this material, but very high levels can flatten a blend — balance with character notes.

Blending Guide

Method 1 — Radiance Booster: Add 10 to 30 percent to lift and aerate a finished accord without changing its identity.

Method 2 — Jasmine Extender: Pair with jasmine absolute or Hedione standard to stretch and brighten natural jasmine.

Method 3 — Smoothing Agent: Use 5 to 15 percent to round sharp aldehydes, citrus, or green notes.

BEST PAIRINGS
Jasmine Absolute → Amplifies and brightens natural jasmine
Cis-3-Hexenol → Builds fresh, dewy green floral effects
Iso E Super → Radiant woody-floral transparency
Bergamot → Classic luminous cologne structure
Methyl Anthranilate→ Soft grape-floral lift

AVOID: Nothing strictly incompatible. At extreme levels it can mute bolder notes, so balance carefully.

Perfumer's Note

I think of Hedione High Cis as light itself rather than a note. It rarely announces its presence, yet remove it from a formula and the whole thing collapses inward and loses its glow. The high cis grade gives me far more lift per drop than standard Hedione, so I reach for it whenever a blend feels dull or closed.

ADVANCED TIP: To open a heavy oud or rose mukhallat, blend Hedione High Cis at 15 to 25 percent of the concentrate and add a trace of cis-3-hexenol at 0.1 percent. The pairing creates a fresh, blooming halo around the base without lightening its richness.
