About Stemone

Stemone is a synthetic aroma chemical originally developed as a Givaudan captive specialty and now available more widely to the perfumery trade. It belongs to the family of high-impact green nitrile / ketone style materials that revolutionised modern green and galbanum accords from the late 20th century onward.

What makes Stemone special is its exceptional power and naturalness. A trace amount transforms a flat green note into a vivid, leafy, almost photographic galbanum and violet-leaf signature. It works where natural galbanum oil would be too resinous or costly, and gives perfumers a clean, reproducible green effect.

Bio Shop Pakistan supplies cosmetic-grade Stemone suitable for fine fragrance creation, attar and mukhallat blending, niche perfumery, functional fragrance, and modern cosmetic and home fragrance formulation.

Olfactory Profile

SCENT DESCRIPTION : Stemone opens with a piercing fresh-cut green, leafy, and galbanum-like impression. There is a clear violet-leaf and tomato-leaf vegetal facet, with a slightly metallic, sappy edge. The effect is photographic — like crushing a green stem between the fingers. It feels cool, natural, and elegantly sharp.

Applications & Usage Guidelines

Fine Fragrance ★★★★★
Stemone is at its best in fine alcoholic perfumery. It powers green florals, chypres, fougères, and masculine colognes with a natural galbanum-violet-leaf sparkle.

Attar & Oriental Blending ★★★
Useful in trace amounts to add a fresh leafy lift to mukhallat top notes. Use sparingly to avoid clashing with heavy resins and oudh.

Functional Fragrance ★★★★
Performs well in shampoos, body washes, and reed diffusers where a clean green signature is desired. Strong diffusion makes it cost-effective.

Cosmetics ★★★
Suitable for leave-on and rinse-off products at very low dosage. Watch for any pale yellow tint at higher rates.

Home Fragrance ★★★★
Excellent in reed diffusers and room sprays for modern green compositions. In candles, top-note loss is normal but the impact remains.

IFRA & Usage Rate

EDP : 0.05% to 0.5% (rarely above 1%)
EDT : 0.05% to 0.5%
Body Lotion : 0.01% to 0.1%
Shampoo / Body Wash : 0.05% to 0.3%
Candle : 0.1% to 0.5%
Reed Diffuser : 0.1% to 0.5%
Soap : 0.05% to 0.2%

⚠️ Stemone is extremely powerful — overdose flattens compositions and creates a harsh, metallic green effect.
⚠️ IFRA 51st Amendment limits should be confirmed for the exact CAS at ifrafragrance.org before commercial use.
⚠️ Always verify current restrictions and category-specific limits with the supplier CoA and IFRA documentation.

Blending Guide

Method 1 — Trace Top-Note Lift
Add 0.05% to 0.2% to the perfume concentrate to bring sharp, natural green diffusion to the opening.

Method 2 — Galbanum Reconstruction
Combine with galbanum oil, styrallyl acetate, and cis-3-hexenol to build a modern reconstructed galbanum accord.

Method 3 — Violet Leaf Accord
Pair with methyl heptin carbonate, ionones, and violet leaf absolute to create a luminous violet-leaf signature.

BEST PAIRINGS

Galbanum oil → reinforces resinous green base
Cis-3-hexenol → fresh cut grass and leaf realism
Triplal / Liffarome → leafy, melon-green amplification
Iso E Super → soft woody underlay and diffusion
Hedione → adds airy lift and naturalness
Cassis base → blackcurrant bud and green fruit synergy
Violet leaf absolute→ deepens vegetal violet character
Methyl pamplemousse → grapefruit-green citrus top

AVOID

Heavy gourmand and sweet oriental bases where green sharpness clashes
Overdose — creates a metallic, soapy off-note
Mixing too many high-impact greens together — they cancel each other out

Perfumer's Note

In my hands Stemone is one of the most surgical green materials in the lab. A single drop in 100 g of base shifts the entire top note from generic to alive, and pulling back is always smarter than pushing forward. It is the difference between drawing a leaf and photographing one.

ADVANCED TIP
Build a 1% dilution of Stemone in DPG or perfumer's alcohol and dose from there — never the neat material. For a modern galbanum accord try 0.15% Stemone, 0.3% galbanum oil, 0.4% styrallyl acetate, 0.2% cis-3-hexenyl acetate, and 0.1% Triplal in the concentrate. This gives a vivid, photographic green opening that performs beautifully in alcoholic perfumery and reed diffusers.
