Information About Indole (10% in DPG)

  • 10% dilution in DPG for safer, easier blending
  • Adds realism, warmth, and depth to floral heart and base notes
  • Used in jasmine, tuberose, oud, ylang, and white floral compositions
  • Perfect for vintage-style perfumes, oriental florals, and musky attars
  • Excellent in incense, oil perfumes, and layered musky florals

Indole (10% in DPG) is a pre-diluted form of one of the most powerful floral aroma chemicals in perfumery. At low doses, Indole adds animalic, narcotic, and jasmine-like warmth to floral perfumes, especially jasmine, tuberose, orange blossom, and ylang-ylang accords. This 10% dilution in DPG (Dipropylene Glycol) allows for precise use in attars, mists, incense, and deep floral blends.

While Indole has a strong fecal-animalic smell in its raw form, in tiny concentrations it transforms florals, making them lush, sensual, and more realistic. It’s an essential tool in white florals, vintage perfumes, musk-floral blends, and even oud-based compositions.

Use 0.2–1.5% of this blend to enhance white floral and animalic bases. Blend with Musk Ketone for warmth and persistence, Coumarin for sweet complexity, or Ethyl Vanillin to soften the base with a creamy sweetness.

💡 To build a narcotic jasmine or tuberose accord 🌼, use 0.2–1.5% Indole (10% in DPG) in floral attars or vintage-style perfumes.

🌹 Pair with Musk Ketone for a long-lasting soft floral-animalic drydown.

🍮 Add a drop of Ethyl Vanillin or Coumarin to round off any harshness and bring creamy contrast.

🔄 Mix thoroughly in alcohol or oil bases to achieve even diffusion.

⚠️ Always patch test when using in high concentrations—Indole is potent even at low doses.

Q1: What does Indole smell like?

In pure form, it smells animalic and intense. In low doses, it mimics natural jasmine and tuberose, adding warmth and narcotic depth.

Q2: Is Indole suitable for floral perfumes?

Yes! It is essential in white floral compositions like jasmine, orange blossom, and ylang-ylang to create realistic floral richness.

Q3: Can I use this in oil-based perfumes and attars?

Yes, the DPG dilution allows it to blend smoothly into oil-based systems and alcohol-based perfumes.

Q4: Does it smell bad on its own?

In high amounts—yes. But in perfumery, trace amounts transform florals and create sensual, creamy richness.

Q5: What should I blend it with?

Best with musk, amber, oud, Ethyl Vanillin, Coumarin, and white floral accords.
