In Pakistan and South Asia, methyl salicylate holds special significance in Unani medicine as a key warming roghan (روغن — oil or balm), traditionally paired with camphor and menthol to create the iconic pain-relief preparations that span from urban sports recovery products to rural joint-care remedies.
